Family Story and Situation:
Mary receives disability income and is the primary caregiver for her grandson Tristan, who is on the autism spectrum and experiences seizures. Her daughter lives with her and brings in a small income by doing nails, but Mary carries most of the financial responsibility for the home. Their house was damaged during the hurricane last year and repairs are still in progress. After paying bills and buying groceries, there is nothing left for Christmas. She noted that her property taxes remain unpaid and are due in January. Mary expressed deep gratitude and explained that she only reached out because the need is real.
