Family Story and Situation: Elizabeth shared that her family has been devastated by many events over the last two years and is still struggling to recover. She, her mother, and her two younger siblings are living in the house her parents got before the divorce. Her mother pays the water bill, light bill, her car insurance, and her phone plan.
Her father is the owner of the house they live in and does not have any urgency to have the house repaired from Hurricane Helen, making the home difficult and uncomfortable to live in. While some repairs have been made, their home no longer feels like a home. Her mother and father divorced last year, and her mother works six days a week trying to support her and her two younger siblings.
Her father rarely pays child support on time or in full, causing them to live paycheck to paycheck. They have tried applying for financial aid but have been denied because her father will not provide a lease agreement. Because of her father’s lack of concern for his children, her mother is trying to get a lawyer, but the cost is too much for their family right now. Elizabeth does online school, which allows her to help at home when she is not doing schoolwork.  Even with everything that is happening, they try to stay positive and keep their faith in the Lord.
