Family #22 – Maya W.

Adults in Home:
• Maya W. (Female)
• Husband (Male)
• Living with Maya’s mother for now

Children:
• Adrian, 15 weeks (Male)

Family Story and Situation:
Maya shared that she and her husband recently welcomed their son, Adrian, in August. During her pregnancy, both parents lost their jobs and moved in with her mother to stay afloat. They have been trying to save to move out, but unexpected hardships keep getting in the way.

Adrian is growth-restricted and considered “failure to thrive,” requiring a strict feeding schedule and multiple medical appointments. He is also scheduled for surgery in January to help him eat and gain weight. The upfront medical cost is more than the family can manage, and every available dollar is going toward that and outstanding bills from Maya’s delivery and the baby’s extra visits.

Maya works when the grandmothers are able to help with the baby, but the situation is fragile. Right now, even diapers in Adrian’s size have become difficult to afford. She and her husband are doing everything they can, but they simply need help to get through this season.
